Religion and the environment should
be kept separate. Religion has always been the number one source of conflict in
the world and that is not what the progress to a better environment needs. It
is impossible to unify all the religions to improve the environment. Some way
or another, there will be issues on how to improve it. Religion should always
be kept separate from everything else. Let religion be religion. It is a
personal belief and has no place in important affairs. In today’s society, it
seems like religion is taking over everything from political affairs to all-out
war. Although perhaps Christianity in the United States might be able to unite
to help the planet, a global unification will never happen. Our planet needs to
be taken care by us and our future and not for any kind of salvation that we
believe will come out of it. If we take care of it through selfish reasons, new
problems will arise. Although it may seem that this is against religion, it
really is not. Religion should be kept to itself and not interfere with the
rest of our lives.
I agree with the thought that the environment should be saved for the sake of the planet and not because it is as idea that is being brought on to people so that they may find salvation. I also think that religion can play a role to a certain extent and make a contribution. Religion has been a motivation for groups of people to take care of the environment since earlier days. Even if it may be due to religious beliefs, if the people are helping to protect the environment then it can only be beneficial. Sure there may be times when there will be opposing views on things but, that is the natural way of the world. Nothing is perfect and it is those differences that make humans such unique creatures. In the end, I think it is possible to mitigate the damage done to the environment with the combined efforts of everyone, regardless of their motives for wanting to contribute.
